Last night we found a new home for our tabby cat Boomer. We decided after several months that due to allergies and personality conflicts ( he didn't like me at all - as evidenced by his hate crimes) that he'd do better in another home. So we are back to being a one pet family.
I used to think I was a cat person, but after having my latest feline, I think perhaps I am switching teams. Yeah, they do drool and dogs aren't the cleanest smelling creatures, but they are lovable and so devoted, and they can be trained. Not just that, but they don't generally scratch you or just whack you in the face for no reason. Yes, we love our Gus Gus. And Boomer has found a nice residence with other kitties, so he should be happy about that. Sometimes that's better than trying to make something work that obviously isn't working.
What have I learned? ( I can almost hear my mom asking me that question now - wait she has asked me that recently). I have learned that cats make me sneeze and itch, and my nose is stuffy almost all the time. I have also learned that cats do whatever they want whenever they want and for cleanliness sake, that's not my cup of tea, little kitty litter toes on the counters and dining room table - blech! I have also learned that although having pets can help to ease the heartache of not having kids while most of my others friends / acquaintances and friends of acquaintances are expecting or enjoying a newborn. Tiny furry things only fill the void for a short amount of time and then they grow quickly. Also, accessorizing a pet to the nines, doesn't even compare to oohing and aahing over all the cute little baby toys/ binkies/ blankies/ socks/ and clothes. So, no more puddy tats for this sneezy Sally. I've learned my lesson. For now, it's just me and Kevin and Gus, 2 boys against one girl, but at least the odds are a little more in my favor than they used to be, and that's good enough for me, for now.
Me and Cats don't get along either- they give me hives. Ollie is a crazy dog! and He really smells cuz of his long hair but he is fun too. I hope you are doing well. I enjoy reading your blog when I get a chance. You are a very talented writer. I bet you could write a book someday. Have a great day:) Kim
