Two and a half hours later I awoke to a very quiet house, no TV on, no sounds of baby or daddy. Hmmmm. . . curious. Then as I walked into the living room I saw our dining room table decked with a vinyl heart covered table cloth, 2 matching placemats and a banner hung over the table that read : Be My Valentine. In the kitchen I discovered the man behind the decor, mixing up a drink to go with dinner ( of the crystal lite variety), who was just about to wake me for the surprise. While I was sleeping he'd done a few errands with Elizabeth and picked up some takeout from Bajios ( pineapple shrimp salads ). Not only that but he planned a night out for us and pre-arranged for a sitter. We sat down for dinner and at my place setting was a red cardstock heart with sweet heartfelt sentiments just for me! I love that he had made it himself, old school style by folding and cutting out a heart shape and went to all the trouble to make a bad start to the day better! We ate our dinner, while Elizabeth snoozed in her bouncer and before long my mom arrived. Then Kevin came in with a tie from his closet, took my glasses away and blindfolded me! Well, if you know me at all you know I hate being blindfolded ( I hate being without my sight), but I knew he wanted to surprise me so I went along with it. On the way to our destination he kept asking me if I knew where we were and just before we arrived we hit some bumps and did some turns that left me a little nauseous but all in all it was a fun little adventure. Not too long after we left the house we were there and I removed my blindfold as was shocked as ever to see our local movie theater before my eyes. It's a $3 theater and plays movies that are not brand new but not old enough to be nearly released to DVD. And what do you think was playing???
The Muppets!!! I was so excited ( and surprised because when he had checked online just the day earlier to see if it was still playing in town, it wasn't). You see, when Kevin and I were dating he had bought The Muppet Show Season 1 on DVD and we watched it together many an evening. He loves the muppets and I do too, so it was kind of our thing. So much so, that for our 1st Anniversary we bought Season 2 of the Muppet Show and watched it together in our hotel room. Not to mention Kevin has purchased a few muppety things for me through the years including an "Animal" puppet and a second hand "Kermit the Frog" that he fixed up for me for Christmas ( he was in bad shape and he fixed him just for me)! We also happen to have Muppet checks :) So, you get my point. We love the muppets! And I couldn't have loved the movie more, in fact we hope to buy it in just a few weeks. What a memorable Muppety Valentines for us!
Here's our little sweetheart's first Valentines Day!
