I'm sorry I haven't caught any of you devoted followers up on the blog lately, but it would have been next to impossible. As you know, we moved closer to the family and a little farther away from Kevin's job just a few weeks ago. Luckily, the move went pretty smoothly with the bigger stuff and the basics, we still have so much more to retrieve from our storage unit and unpack but I feel we are off to a good start ( at least with getting a little more settled in each day).
On the computer front however life has been a lot more complicated, the computer made the move just fine, no damage done, or so we thought. . . Prior to getting all packed up from the basement apartment we had a little drama with my e-mail account through Juno. My Juno account, which had been a reliable little spam catching address since back into my 20's was maliciously hacked and e-mails were sent out to my friends and family via my address book that were not from me. I tried to get the word out as soon as I realized what had happened but the e-mail that I sent was blocked from being sent and before I knew it friends were writing to inqiure more about the e-mail and if I had sent it to them. Unfortunately, one of those people that happened to open such an e-mail was my very own hubby. He never clicked the link to read about what the spammer was trying to get all of my friends and family into, but the e-mail was unfortunately infected with a terrible worm virus and we have been suffering ever since. The first malady with our computer was a very slow connection, then it started freezing, and then it wouldn't respond to any external input. Luckily, we were able to save our photos onto a DVD and then restore it to factory settings, but that was all that we were able to accomplish before it started letting us know that the BIOS was toast, for those of you that know computers or don't that means the input and output system wasn't allowing anything to come in or go out. Talk about frustrated! ***NOTE TO FRIENDS AND FAMILY if you are having any of these same issues with your computer after receiving an e-mail from my juno account, do all that you can to diagnose and treat the problem as soon as possible. This sneaky little virus turned OFF our virus protection and made itself comfy and cozy as it destroyed our operating system. Make sure that you have GOOD virus protection and DO NOT open any e-mail that seems too vague ( you know how wordy I am, vague is not my style), this terrible worm virus is going around and I want to save as many of you from the drama of it all as I can! Be cautiious, update your passwords if you have to, or create a new e-mail account if you have to. It's NO FUN being stuck without a computer cause of someone else's malicious decison to wreck other people's good names and computer systems!**** After consulting a co-worker Kevin works with who has lots of computer background we determined that our 3 yr. old HP had bit the dust and we were in need of something else. Not to mention not only did we need a new computer, but our monitor was done too - it would light up a lovely picture and display for several minutes before blinking out. Grrrrrr! This was an unexpected hit to the budget, but thankfully via a local online classified website we were able to find a replacement computer for a really great deal :) and now even though we were downsized to a 15" monitor from a 19" and we are back to XP instead of Vista I am happy to be reconnected to the outside world again. I'm lost without my computer, it's my outside world, it's my sounding board, it's my watch a show on hulu cause I am behind an episode or two, and most of all it's my bargain hunting tool. So, glad we are back online and I get to do fun things like update all of you via my blog :)
So, with the computer issue tackled, we had yet another big financial hurdle to leap and that was the need for tires. We have been driving around on practically bald tires, that were starting to split for about 2 months now, and we knew that now was the time to get that taken care of. Thankfully, due to another co-worker conversation Kevin heard about a place that sells used tires for a great deal, so while on an outing with our neice and nephew on Saturday we stopped by to check their prices and luckily, we got there just in time, upon closer inspection of our 11 yr. old tires which we knew were in bad shape ( hence the nails and screws that had been picked up in recent weeks) the tech pointed out a bulging front passenger tire which was on the verge of becoming a blow out had we not taken care of it just then. What a mess that could have been, on the side of the road with 2 toddlers in tow, so we picked an affordable set and they got them put on and mounted and balanced in just about 45 min. Hooray!
In other news, our little baby girl is growing and getting more active all the time. I can feel her squirming around in there so often and her little rhythmic kicks and jabs are a wonderful reminder of how blessed we are. Unfortunately when she gets caught kicking and I encourage daddy or grandma to feel it for themselves she stops entirely, but one of these days they'll catch her in the act. Funny story, while at my mom's house the other day my mom's dog Peanut was resting comfortably across my lap when he got a kick from little miss, apparently she was not a fan of being squished by him and she let him know it. I am approaching 24 weeks as of tomorrow and I can hardly believe how close November is getting. We have been blessed in the past couple of weeks to find just the right nursery bedding and accessories to get her room off to a wonderful start. For example, my sis in law discovered the perfect bedding set ( on a local online classified site - used ), shabby chic with pink roses, celery green accents, and soft white chenille, and then on a thrift store trip about a week ago we found a glider rocker ( with a light pink chenille slip cover) and an antique dresser that would be perfectly suited to her nursery. We were so excited! Well, at least the women folk were. Two perfect finds all in one day! My very talented sis in law Kim, and my mom are going to refinish the dresser white with celery green peeking through and detail it with little crystal knobs. So sweet and demure for our little Elizabeth! Yep, that's her name. I've always loved it since I was a little girl, and had it picked out for my little girl since I saw that plus sign on my pregnancy test ( well even before). I love how classic it is, yet how it can be adapted to so many nicknames of her own choosing as she grows up. I know many of you are eager to see a belly picture, but in all honestly due to my height and not being a super skinny girl it's hard to even tell that I have a baby bump ( which I am kind of bummed about, since my sis in law Cathy is only 17 weeks and hers is adorable- kind of makes me jealous), unless you come up to my tummy and feel it or look really closely. So, for those of you eager to see pics, you may have to wait a few more weeks until she really starts growing to see much of anything. But I PROMISE as soon as I look pregnant I will post a picture! I want to document this journey more than ever, especially after the 4 yr. long wait :)
Consider yourselves mostly caught up on life in the Robinson home. I'll try to do better with updates more frequently now that the move is behind us, the computer is working again, and life is much happier above ground in the sunshine :)
