Gender Reveal Party

Yesterday, after having found out the gender of our baby and keeping it to ourselves for a few days, we held a gender reveal party to celebrate with family. My sister in law Kim, was sweet enough to take on this little project and carried it out with the help of my trusty mom and they planned an owl themed gathering. Invitations were printed and sent out that said "Whoo's It Going to Be? A Boy or A Girl?" and both sides of the family were invited to celebrate and find out just "who" would be joining our family this fall. Kevin and I were so excited to be able to finally share the exciting news. Below are a few candid shots of our party guests, dressed in their team colors, the adorable owl decorations and the food :) Thanks to Kim for hosting at her home and putting her creative genius to work to celebrate with us after we'd been walking down the long road of infertility for so long! We love you :)

Our food consisted of the many sweets and cravings I've had since becoming pregnant well at least so far. . . We munched on strawberry Twizzlers, vanilla frozen yogurt with strawberry sauce, watermelon, fruit pizza, and chocolate covered strawberries and washed it all down with fruit water ( it was so yummy) and orange juice, which has been my #1 craving!

That's my brother in the background slicing the fruit pizza's.

Kim made these cute owls for decorations, this was where the 2 boy ones were set up along with boy themed subway art a guess the baby's birthdate poll. . . We will have to wait a few more months to see who was closest on that one, but it will be a cute memory for the baby book. Looking back at the pictures I somehow missed getting a photo of the girl owls and the girly subway art she had designed, but it was a great addition to the decor and the party.

And here is my mom and dad. As you can see, they are on opposing teams!

And here is my brother and sister in law, also on opposing teams!

This is the best picture I could get of the adorable owl themed banner, my mom and Kim made. But it read, "Whooo will it be? Girl? Boy? and was intermixed with scraps of boy and girl fabric.

TEAM PINK! They wished for a girl.

Arlinda ( mother in law), Kim ( sis in law ), Mom, and Josh ( nephew)
TEAM BLUE! They wished for a boy.

Katelyn ( neice), John ( brother), Dad, Cathy and David ( sis and bro in law)

After we took team pictures, we helped ourselves to goodies and then played a little game with "Old Wise Tales" to see whether or not the wise tales would predict the correct gender. It turns out the results were in favor of team pink by one point. Then I revealed the gender of baby with a can of silly string. We counted down and I watched everyone's reaction, with loud shouts of joy from the winners! The silly string only shot out a few streams of PINK string and then gave up, but it was still exciting! After that was over, we all gathered around to check out baby girl's ultrasound together. And that was our little party. It was a fun way to celebrate the transition from infertility to finding out we were expecting to revealing baby's gender, we only wish that a few more people could have come to celebrate with us.
