Family Fieldtrip

Remember how we were supposed to go to grandpa's cabin in the mountains?  Well, that didn't exactly work out for us last weekend ( June 30, 2012) because there was a pretty big wildfire taking place not too far away from there.  We were all so disappointed, especially Kevin, he was planning on going fishing remember?  So instead of getting the family together ( Grandma Linda, Aunt Cathy, Uncle David, Cousin Emmett) for a cabin trip, Kevin and I hatched a different plan.  We decided since we couldn't go catch fish, we could at least go stare at them.  My first thought was to go to an aquarium with Elizabeth, thinking she would have a great time checking out the fish and sea creatures, but although there wasn't one too far away we thought of another idea, or rather I did.  Cabelas!  Now if you have never heard of it, it's a sporting superstore, yes- even more super than Walmart and there is a lot to see, but best of all it's FREE!  So we tossed the umbrella stroller into the back of our SUV and set out for a little adventure just about 25 minutes north of here.

Our first stop : The Freshwater Fish Aquarium

Her first close up with the fish, definitely curious

The sunken boat, right in the middle of the aquarium

Not the most flattering picture of me ( above), but we have so few together I decided it was blog worthy.

Not exactly the nature we had hoped to escape into, complete with  cool mountain breezes ( at least there was A/C ), but a nice way to spend time as a family and a fun little field trip for Elizabeth.
