Kevin got 2 gift bags for his very first father's day! What a lucky guy! One gift was from Elizabeth, and the other was from mommy. Elizabeth gave daddy a book "From Father to Daughter" a guide to raising a girl, with sweet suggestions on how to be a good daddy to a little girl, as well as a book of Richard Scarry stories to read to her when she's a little bigger ( so she can read the same kind of picture books that mommy and daddy used to read when we were little) and best of all, he got a framed picture of the two of them together, that I had taken the Sunday before! I took a picture of him with her and his gifts, but for some reason it didn't turn out on the camera, but here's the actual photo of them together below. It will be her 8 month photo in her baby book too, once I get all the photos printed out that is. See how much they look alike? Two of my very favorite cuties!!!
For my gift to Kevin, I decided on a fishing theme, and made this cute little tag for his goodies which had a fishing liscense taped to the back of the candy for the BIG surprise!!! He's been wanting to get a fishing liscense forever, and since we had an impending trip to grandpa's cabin in the mountains I knew it would be the PERFECT gift this year!
Kevin's Bait: Gummy Worms & Swedish Fish
Here's the picture of my craftiness at work. I can't take ALL of the credit. I got the initial idea for candy with a "punny" saying from a blog, but I added a few more words to be sure the message was straight from the heart!
After Kevin opened his gifts, we enjoyed a steak dinner ( the expensive stuff) and invited Grampa Van and Gramma Judy over for a Father's Day dessert of banana splits afterwards!
Was my hubby spolied on father's day??? Most definitely! But did he deserve it? Heck yeah! He is the best provider and loving father! We are pretty blessed to have him in our lives, Elizabeth and I are the lucky ones!
