Holiday Head Start
If you know me really well, you probably know that Christmas is not my favorite time of year. In fact, I'd rather have a painful medical procedure then be out and about during the Christmas shopping season. I avoid Black Friday sales like the Black Plague, and don't even like to be nearby a popular store on Thanksgiving weekend. During the holidays when people should be filled with the spirit of caring and generosity there is instead an underlying theme of greed and entitlement and commercialism that permeates the stores and media. What happened to giving and loving? That's what makes the holiday magical and beautiful! Two years ago we were able to give a family a Christmas! Last year, we didn't even put up the tree, but this year I have decided to get a head start on the holiday and not let this season pass me by. This weekend the hubby put some lights on the house and we even found a pre-lit tree at a thrift store and have been adding to our Christmas decorations. You heard me right, I was in stores Thanksgiving weekend and I left smiling. I am pleased that we have enough this year to celebrate and hope that we can give a little too. Here's hoping that you too may focus on what really matters and makes you happiest this holiday season, and if you haven't already, you can get your own holiday head start be it with a mindset or light set.

I loved your holiday card and the wonderful poem you created. I'm glad this holiday you've been able to get into the spirit of Christmas a little more. I agree that commercialism makes it hard at times but it's still such a wonderful season. You captured that so well in your card. Thanks for sending that along.
