On Friday afternoon we headed down to Utah county to visit with friends and family for the weekend. We haven't been down to visit since March, so it's been quite awhile. It was a whirlwind tour ( as always - trying to divide the time between both sides of the family and working in an evening dinner with my good friend) but we managed to see everyone and have a lot of fun.
On Friday evening we stopped by Red Lobster for Endless Shrimp, a tradition of my girlfriend Julie's and I, and had such a wonderful time catching up! We were celebrating hers and Kevin's birthday since they are both in October. We feasted, and filled our tummies to capacity, making sure to taste each variety several times. We had a wonderful waitress, who kept us taken care of and so much great conversation. But I think if you asked me if I was hungry for shrimp, even today - I'd probably decline the offer. I love it! But I think for now both Kevin and I would agree we are probably good til the next Endless Shrimp promotion comes around in another six months.
Saturday morning we were lucky to get to spend some time with my nephew at his V.I.P. soccer game. He had fun kicking around the ball, but was very distracted by his Auntie, Uncle, Grandma, and Daddy. I was glad we were able to go to his game, once we found the location ( due to a mix up in the difference between a Public Works building and the Fire Dept.) to watch him play, and then receive a medal and team picture at the end. He was so excited about it all. I love that kiddo, he and I will always have a special connection despite the distance.
Saturday afternoon, we got to visit with Kevin's younger brother, younger sister and her hubby, and his mom for awhile at her apartment before heading up to the canyon for a family photo and BBQ in celebration of all of the October birthdays. It was so much fun catching up with everyone in person, and seeing my two nephews again. They are funny little guys. The food was good, the conversation was great, and the time spent together was priceless. We stay in touch with our families really well via the Internet and phone, but it was so nice to be there and be with them in person.
Thanks to our generous families we also received a few pet supplies, and misc. odds and ends that we have needed, a home made baby blanket from my mother in law for our future baby ( she must know something I don't), a guitar so Kevin can start to learn how to play, and some grocery items as well. Thanks guys! We couldn't make it without you :) We love everything, and so do the pets!
On Sunday morning we spent some more time with my mom and dad and checked out their newest little baby fish, and basement surround sound system, and just visited about life. Later in the day we got to hang out with my brother and his family too! I got to hear my niece singing some Wicked songs, and hear about my nieces trip to DC and NYC, and eat a tasty meal with them, all while admiring my sister in law's lovely fall decorations. We met their new little pup Ollie and got to listen to my nephew read. My youngest niece, was trying to show me a video her and her big sis made, and we all took a short ride into the fall leaves for some impromptu family pics. It was good times!
We loved visiting with everyone, we had such a nice visit. We only wish we could have stayed longer to make more memories. Next time we head down, which probably wont be until after an Idaho winter. . . hopefully we will be able to visit longer, and maybe just maybe I won't forget the camera card next time, and I can post some pictures!
Thanks for a great weekend everyone! We had a blast :)
Love the posts. It's nice to see what's going on in your life. Also love the music! "To make you feel my love" was our wedding song so it brings back happy memories:)
